Scuba Diving is an exciting and sometimes adrenaline fuelled activity. Some people will call it dangerous, which it can be if the various scuba diving rules are not followed, but the benefits of recreational diving far outweigh the risks!
New Experiences and Goals
There is nothing else like scuba diving. The underwater landscape, the marine life that ranges from the breathtakingly large to the downright bizarre, the freedom of movement and the feeling of weightlessness will rank amongst the best experiences you can have.
With scuba certification you can choose to dive colourful reefs, swim through shipwrecks, dive with sharks, dive under ice, swim between tectonic plates, around remarkable geological formations, and so much more.
Social Benefits
When scuba diving you are surrounded by like-minded people and will find yourself in an environment where it is easy to make new friends. The shared experience of going through scuba diving courses, or witnessing awe inspiring sights beneath the waves brings people closer together and will give you some amazing stories to share!
Mindfulness
Being underwater removes the constant noise of daily life. There is no more traffic or background chatter and you can’t talk to anyone or be spoken to. It provides you time alone with your thoughts, or a place to focus on your breathing and what you are observing. The level of focus rids your mind of day-to-day problems and is described as a form of meditation by many.
Fitness Levels
Moving through water offers resistance, meaning your body is constantly working throughout the dive, burning calories. You’ll build better endurance levels and your muscles will strengthen in a way that is easier on your joints than traditional exercise.
The First Step - Discover Scuba Diving
If you think you, or a loved one, would like to give scuba diving a try then there is no need to commit to a full course. With Discover Scuba Diving you can spend a couple of hours learning about diving, the scuba equipment you will use and some of the important concepts and theory.
Then you can take your first breath underwater whilst practicing some of the basic skills and how to use the equipment, all at a very inexpensive cost. By the end of the experience, you will know if scuba diving is for you and you’ll be in a position to take the next step confidently.
